Josh Inglis will become Australia’s 14th men’s T20 captain on Thursday evening, leading his country in the series opener against Pakistan at the Gabba.

After the Pakistanis secured a 2-1 ODI series victory last week, attention shifts towards the game’s shortest format, with three matches occurring in Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide.

Several of Australia’s multi-formats stars are unavailable due to Test commitments, opening the door for some of the team’s fringe players to shine.

Xavier Bartlett and Spencer Johnson headline the pace attack, while Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matthew Short will be searching for redemption after a disappointing ODI campaign.

The first T20 between Australia and Pakistan gets underway at the Gabba on Thursday at 7pm AEDT.
