Navy practices submarine hunting off WA coast

Howard said the training was vital to ensure protection of Australian harbours, ports and shipping lanes.
“Australia’s economy is heavily dependent on the unobstructed movement of maritime trade and the uninterrupted operation of its commercial ports,” he said.
“It is our job as the nation’s navy to guarantee this.”
The warships will also make port visits to Bunbury and Geraldton during the exercise.
The Royal Australian Air Force’s involvement in this latest round of war games comes less than a week after a P-8A Poseidon crew took part in a US war games exercise out of its Andersen Air Base in Guam, known as the Sea Dragon.
