Sony Is Increasing the Price of PS5 in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand

If you’re planning to buy a PlayStation 5 in Europe, Australia, or New Zealand, expect higher prices. Sony has raised the recommended retail prices for the console, blaming the increase on inflation, currency fluctuations, and broader economic challenges.

Since the last price hike in 2022, the PS5 now costs much more than it did at launch. In Europe, the Digital Edition has gone up by €100, while in the UK, it costs £70 more than before. In Australia, the standard PS5 now costs AUD 80 more, while the Digital Edition has jumped by AUD 150. If you live in New Zealand, you’ll pay NZD 130 more for the standard version and NZD 210 more for the Digital Edition.

Sony has not changed the price of the PS5 Pro, so that model still holds its original recommended price. If you are considering the Pro, its cost remains stable for now.

There is one price cut worth noting. Sony has lowered the recommended price of the PS5 disc drive. You can now buy it for €80 in Europe, £70 in the UK, AUD 125 in Australia, and NZD 140 in New Zealand. This change makes it slightly more affordable to upgrade a Digital Edition if you want physical games in the future.

With these adjustments, the overall cost of joining the PS5 lineup has gone up unless you choose the Pro or add a disc drive separately at the new lower price. If you’re weighing your options, it may be worth comparing models and regional prices before making your decision.
