Woman dead after balcony plunge, man in custody

A woman has died, and her partner is in police custody after she fell from the seventh floor of an apartment building in Sydney’s west.

Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the moments the woman, aged 39, fell from a unit balcony on River Road West in Parramatta.

Police were called to the high rise about 1.40am on Thursday after the woman was found on the street suffering multiple serious injuries.

Despite the effort of police officers who performed CPR on the woman, she died at the scene.

A man who police allege is the woman’s partner was arrested. The 40-year-old is at Parramatta Police Station and has not been charged.

Police are interviewing residents of the apartment building as a crime scene is examined at street level.
